What is 3-O-ETHYL ASCORBIC ACID

L-Ascorbic Acid, the standard Vitamin C, is unstable. It oxidises within weeks, turning orange and losing potency. 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid is a stabilised derivative with 86% bioavailability. It
does not irritate sensitive skin, it does not oxidise, and at 20% it delivers a clinical-level brightening effect. This is the form Korean dermatology clinics use in professional treatments.

Frequently asked questions

answers to customers' most frequent questions.

Vitamin C serums usually irritate my skin. Will this?

Most Vitamin C irritation comes from L-Ascorbic Acid - the unstable, highly acidic traditional form. Velluxia uses 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, a stabilised, ether-bonded form that delivers the same brightening and antioxidant benefits at a neutral pH, significantly reducing the risk of irritation.

How long until I see results on dark spots?

Pigmentation results vary but most people notice a visible difference in 4–6 weeks of consistent daily use. Ferulic Acid in the formula stabilises the Vitamin C and amplifies its efficacy, which accelerates results compared to standalone Vitamin C serums.

Should I use this in the morning or at night?

Morning is ideal. Vitamin C works as an antioxidant shield against UV and pollution damage throughout the day. Apply after cleansing, before moisturiser and SPF.

Can I use this with my SPF?

Yes — and you should. Vitamin C and SPF together provide significantly better protection against UV-induced pigmentation than either does alone. Apply Vitamin C first, let it absorb, then apply SPF.

Is it safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Vitamin C (3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid), Ferulic Acid, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, Licorice, and Mulberry are all considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. No actives of concern.

Can I use this with AHAs, BHAs, Retinol, or Niacinamide?

Vitamin C + Niacinamide is a well-established, effective pairing. With AHAs, BHAs and Retinol, apply Vitamin C in the AM and others in the PM to avoid overloading the skin.
